INSCRIBED FIRST EDITION, privately printed. Octavo, pp. viii, 304. 6 plates including frontispiece photographic portrait of the Author. Original dark green cloth with gilt titles to spine and gilt border to boards. Spine tips a little creased; upper corner of upper board bumped. Paper cracked at inner hinges but firmly holding. Inscribed in black ink by the Author to title page: “ J B Simpson, With the Author’s Kind Regards, G C Greenwell, Duffield, Derby July 18th 1900”. A Very Good copy.
Little known work by the President of the Mining Institute (1891-1900), whose other publications include “A Glossary of Terms used in the Coal Trade of Northumberland and Durham” and “A Practical Treatise on Mine Engineering”. Rare.
