FIRST EDITION with prophecy mis-spelled as “phophecy” to p. 271. Crown octavo, pp. [6], 347, [1]. 15 plates including frontispiece with tissue guard. Publishers’ bevelled blue cloth with gilt titles to spine and upper board; glossy black endpapers. Spine sunned; cloth rubbed to edge with bruised corners (also affecting leaves at lower corner). A little scattered light foxing, and several leaves creased at upper corner; no annotation or inscriptions. A very good copy.
First published in America the previous year the first British edition contains four plates not present in the American. Haggard’s novel of a lost Mayan city, set in Mexico. McKay, pp., 38- 40.
