Vivian the M.P and a map of the coal fields of South Wales. Black quarter calf with gilt titles to spine and paper-covered green marbled boards. Spine rubbed with 2-inch loss at tail; boards worn to edge. Ownership inscription to ffep dated 1890; scattered light foxing. A Good copy.
The 1867 First Edition was issued in a very small impression of only 50 presentation copies, and this, the second edition, was much expanded. Grant-Francis was a Justice of the Peace, Vice President of the Royal Institution of South Wales, member of the Society of Antiquaries and a well-respected historian of the South Wales district.
