Dark blue pebbled quarter cloth with blue marbled paper-covered boards; printed paper title onlay to upper board. Single pictorial sheet, approx 25 cm x 20 cm, loosely inserted, captioned “The Birth of the Philosopher’s Stone”. Spine tips gently rubbed; small bruise top edge upper board and title label a little toned. From the library of Bernard Ratcliffe, with his bookplate to title-page; no annotation or inscriptions. Pictorial sheet creased to edge with a couple of very minor associated nicks. A near fine copy. Alchemical work concerning “The First Matter and the Dual Process for the Vegetable and Metallic Tinctures”. Understandably rare, COPAC locates one copy only in UK librarires, at Lancaster University. £200.00
