Jacket very lightly scuffed & soiled, with minor loss at lower fold. Near Fine in Very Good jacket.
The first book to treat the detective story as a literary form, in a comprehensive history of early crime fiction from its inception with Poe’s “Murders in the Rue Morgue”, through the Golden Age and brought up-to-date. Subjects include American, British and French authors, with an extensive “Who’s Who” section. Scarce.
