Variously dated 1899 to 1902. Illustrated with a frontispiece to each volume. Contemporary bottle green half morocco with 5 raised bands, gilt titles to spine and gilt decoration to compartments, gilt fillet to edges and matching pebbled green cloth-covered boards. All edges gilt; marbled endpapers. Edges, spine tips and corners lightly rubbed, and spine slightly toned. Pictorial bookplate of William Arthur Clarke to each front paste-down (and additional copy bound upside-down to rear paste-down Vol V); no annotation or inscriptions. A little scattered light foxing, mainly to endpapers, otherwise contents clean and crisp. A very good set. Complete works by the prolific British writer, satirist and illustrator (1811-1863).
