Dickens’ satirical and much-loved novel highlighting the plight of those imprisoned for debt in the Marshalsea prison, where the Author’s own father was incarcerated. Originally published in 19 monthly instalments from 1855-1857, the story has been adapted for the screen five times and remains a favourite today. Harry Buxton Forman is now best known for the series of forgeries he undertook with fellow bibliographer Thomas James Wise. The pair forged works by Elizabeth Barrett Browning, George Eliot, John Ruskin, Matthew Arnold and others.
