General Sir Archibald Murray (1860-1945) served in the Boer and First World Wars, retiring as Chief of Staff to the British Expeditionary Force after the retreat from Mons, but serving as Chief of Imperial General Staff laying the foundation for the destruction of the Ottoman Empire. These despatches refer to Murray’s crucial role during his service as Commander of the Egyptian Expeditionary Force in 1916-17. Former owner Oskar Teichman served in the Royal Army Medical Corps from 1914-1918, was mentioned in dispatches three times and seriously wounded twice; after the war he contributed to many publications on military and historical topics, and amongst other titles he wrote “The Diary of a Yeomanry M. O.” published in 1921. Scarce.
