FIRST EDITION. Landscape octavo, pp., 21, [3]. Woodcuts throughout. Stab stitched illustrated paper wrappers with woodcuts to upper and lower wrappers. With a penny postage stamp affixed to lower wrapper illustration, as issued. Edges of wrappers creased with some small closed tears, and very minor loss to corner. Some light speckled foxing throughout otherwise a good clean copy with bold, vivid impressions. Illustrated throughout in Crawhall’s unique artfully naive, vernacular style and including some absurdly funny images. Crawhall’s fervent antiquarianism, and his home town’s rich history of chapbooks and street literature production, greatly inspired his anachronistic illustrations. However, his bold and graphic work is also incredibly forward looking and does not look out of place alongside contemporary illustrators. £200.00
