Publishers’ half vellum and sapphire blue cloth over boards; gilt fillets to vellum edges; blue morocco spine label with gilt titles and spine ornaments; ruby gilt sprinkled endpapers; gilt fore-edges. Minor rubs to extremities; a very clean, tight copy with no annotation or inscriptions.
Foreword by Sir Alfred Munnings. Joseph Crawhall III (1861-1913) was a noted Northumbrian artist associated with the Glasgow Boys, who specialised in studies of animals and nature. The third artist in the family to bear the name he was by far the most successful and celebrated.
