Publishers’ purple cloth with gilt titles to spine and fillet in blind to upper board, in unclipped pictorial dust-jacket. Spine tips and corners slightly rubbed; cloth clean and bright. Scattered light foxing otherwise contents clean; no annotation or inscriptions. Jacket lightly soiled with nicks & creases, and minor loss top edge;, spine toned and a little stained with small loss at tips. A very good copy in a good jacket.
Comprehensive study of the lives of nuns in England including the structure, finances, education and routines in the convents: the standard work on the subject. The 1922 first printing is scarce, especially so in the fragile dust-jacket.
