Illustrated by various engravers including Simon Brett and Harry Brockway. Publishers’ harlequin set in various colours of cloth, with black titles to gilt panels to spines. Portrait roundels in black and gilt to upper boards. Housed in two matching green paper-covered card slipcases with gilt cartouche and black titles to panels. All volumes clean and crisp with no annotation or inscriptions, and appear unread. Slipcases lightly surface scuffed, and 4-volume slipcase marked with small surface loss, and bumped top rear edge with associated 6-cm closed split, which still holds firm. A Fine set in Very Good slipcases overall. All of Eliot’s much-loved full-length fiction. Scarce as a complete matching set.
