First Edition, second impression. Octavo, pp., 58. Publisher’s sea green cloth in an unclipped, two tone dust-jacket. Minor rubbing at head and tail of spine and corner tips, with a slightly dusty top-edge. The dust-jacket with a few nicks and creases with one closed tear to lower panel. Some peripheral discolouration to lower panel and some spine fading that extends around to the upper panel of the dust-jacket.
Heaney’s first major collection of poems that announced the Nobel Prize winning poet to a wider audience. Some of the poems here were first published in earlier pamphlets such as "Eleven Poems" (1965) however Heaney’s Faber publication helped to establish the reputation of the poet who Robert Lowell described as "the most important Irish poet since Yeats".
