FIRST EDITION. Octavo, pp. 86. Publishers’ scarlet cloth with gilt titles to spine in unclipped printed yellow, blue and maroon dust-jacket. Top edge a little dusty; almost imperceptible marks to endpapers otherwise the book is very clean and bright. Dust-jacket lightly spine sunned but without the usual loss at head and tail, and very slightly surface soiled with barely visible very minor foxing. A near fine copy in like jacket.
Posthumously published, this second book of Sylvia Plath’s poetry was edited by her husband, Ted Hughes, with some poems dating from the last few week’s of Plath’s life; this was the work that established Plath’s literary reputation and ensured her cult following. Not usually found in such good condition.
