Luxurious facsimile of the First edition of Eric Gill’s Song of Songs, originally published in 1925 by the Golden Cockerel Press. The Song of Songs was Eric Gill’s first text for Golden Cockerel and his first Biblical text, condemned as immoral by some members of the Catholic church owing to its erotic illustrations. This Folio facsimile is printed by Memminger on corolla book laid ivory paper, and bound in cloth by Lachenmair and is the second title in the Folio Society’s Fine Press Classics series. With an accompanying specially commissioned essay on the work by Sebastian Carter, editor of Parenthesis, the Journal of the Fine Press Book Association.
