First edition, copy no. 895. Octavo, pp. xix, [1], 359. With seven fold-out maps as called for plus sketch map within text, along with six plates including frontispiece of the Thiepval Memorial. Publishers’ red cloth with gilt titles to spine and armorial vignette to upper board. Copy number stamped to rear paste-down, without a limitation number. Spine and top edge of upper board lightly sunned; top 7 cm of lower joint split but firmly holding. Minimal scattered light foxing; contemporary pencil gift inscription to front free end-paper with occasional annotation to text margins in pencil.
Regimental history from its raising in 1914, right through the Great War and into 1919, with introduction by Field Marshal The Lord Plumer, and List of Honours and Awards. Falls was a Captain in the regiment and the publication is based upon his own experiences, as well as first-hand accounts by his fellow officers and men gathered shortly after the conflict.
