Signed Limited Edition, Number 11 of 75 copies only. Landscape quarto, pp. [6] followed by 50 captioned and numbered full-page plates with the pp.8 appendices at end providing descriptions of each of the subjects. Quarter white parchment with printed pictorial terracotta boards, and titles to upper board. Parchment mottled, and boards lightly surface soiled. Minor scattered light foxing, mainly to endpapers, otherwise contents clean with Author’s signature in ink to Limitation Leaf to fore. A very good copy.
Rare study of the manor houses and halls of the district including the Piece Hall, New Hall at Elland and Todmorden Hall. Arthur Comfort (1864-1935) was an art teacher in Halifax and wood engraver for “The Graphic” amongst other periodicals.
