Rare first edition. Octavo, pp. [4], 96, [2]. Title-page printed in red and black. Complete with vignette of ‘N.W View of Shilstone Cromlech’ to title-page and 6 numbered plates to rear. Full forest green cloth with gilt titles to spine. Cloth lightly toned to spine with wear at tips; boards bruised at corners with some unobtrusive stains to lower board with associated rippling. A shaken copy with weak inner front hinge. Ownership inscription in ink to front paste-down; newspaper clipping referring to publication tipped-in.
Undated, but an 1841 discovery of coins is referred to in the text. Rare work on the antiquities of Devon, with notes on Roman coins, discovery of Roman hoards and a list of Exeter trading and tavern tokens.
