Light orange cloth with blue titles to spine and dragon motif to upper board, in the pictorial white-and-gold dust-jacket. Top edge pale blue; dragon-patterned endpapers. A clean copy with no annotations or inscriptions. Price-clipped dust-jacket a little toned, with barely noticeable patches of loss mainly to corners and spine tips. A near fine copy in a very good jacket.
A good example of Tolkien’s “English Mythology” classic featuring the encounters between Farmer Giles and the dragon Chrysophylax, set in the imaginary Dark Ages. Vividly illustrated by Pauline Baynes.
