Second Edition. Pott octavo, pp., 73. Complete with half-title, hand-coloured vignette to engraved title-page and 14 charming hand-coloured engravings (two to a page). Full contemporary moss green cloth, red morocco title-label, gilt. All edges speckled red. A well preserved copy. The ‘Notes’ are a commentary on the flowers mentioned within the text, and were revised and enlarged for this second edition. The Advertisement at the beginning of the work makes clear that the verses were written by the author during time spent in his youth at the summer residence of a family friend, and were written for a young lady of the house. With the engraved armorial bookplate of Charles William Orde of Nunnykirk Hall, Northumberland.
