An very early example of the ‘girl detective’ genre, best known through the Nancy Drew series. Nell Niblo is a seventeen-year old who dresses as a paperboy and solves mysteries around New York City, and is frequently identified as a girl in the novel. A pioneering work of early detective fiction. Rare, Jisc and WorldCat locate one copy of the London edition only, at Cambridge University Library. The LeBlanc Dime Novel Bibliography, identifies three American editions, the earliest printed in 1880, but not this British edition.
