Duodecimo in half sheets, pp., 115. Publisher’s original drab blue paper-covered boards. With three fine engravings by Barlow including frontispiece of the Royal Hospital; engraving of Charles II statue within the text. Front hinge a little weak but holding well. Annotations in a contemporary hand to p., 55, 78 and 101 adding detail to biographical entries relating to the Earl of Ranelagh, Sir Christopher Wren, Dr Monsey (the hospital physician) and Lord Godolphin. Boards rubbed with minor wear to corners and loss to head and tail of spine; toning and minor sporadic to prelims. A very good copy in the publisher’s original boards. Scarce.
