FIRST EDITION. Octavo. 142 pp, [22] lists of Ship's Company and Officers. Illustrated throughout with photographs, cartoons and maps. Book Condition: Very Good. Original midnight blue full calf with gilt titles to spine and upper board. Spine tips rubbed & minor wear to corners; a couple of small stains to lower board. Endpapers toned and a few minor fingermarks in text otherwise a clean copy; no annotation or inscriptions. A record of the Third Commission of H M S Suffolk during 1933-35 by Instructor Lieut. -Commander R G Howard, with accounts of visits to numerous locations including Bali, Borneo and Nagasaki and events such as "Crossing the Line" and a Japanese tea ceremony. The Suffolk was built in Portsmouth in 1924, commissioned in 1928 and served on the China Station until the outbreak of World War II; during the War she was part of the Norwegian Campaign which included her tracking the Bismarck through the Denmark Strait. Scarce.
