Near contemporary black polished half calf with maroon labels and gilt titles to spine, 4 raised bands with gilt foliate decoration, and marbled boards; all edges sprinkled red. Spines lightly sunned; spine tips and corners a little scuffed. Armorial bookplate of Francis Garnham to each front paste-down. A little scattered foxing otherwise contents clean. 2-inch closed tear to route map of Switzerland to Vol I at mount, and Mont Blanc map to Vol 2 slightly mis-folded with associated creasing. A Very Good set in a near contemporary binding. Epistolary account of Alpine travels, with historical notes updated for this edition.
