FIRST EDITION. Quarto, pp. xvii, 379, [1] printed on laid paper. Divided into three books but continuously paginated. 3 engraved plates as called for; lacks frontispiece plan of Whitby. Later royal pebbled blue cloth with gilt titles and ruling to spine. Edges uncut. Cloth spine lightly toned. Some marginal pencil-lining and corner creasing otherwise internally a very clean copy; no annotation or inscriptions. A good solid copy overall.
Comprehensive 18th century history of the town and county adjacent, by the local Teacher of Mathematics and proprietor of the principal school in Whitby (1720-1788).
