Original burgundy quarter morocco and pink marbled papers over boards, gilt fillets to morocco, gilt spine titles, and top edge gilt. Housed in the original matching marbled slipcase. Very slightly rubbed to bottom spine tip, otherwise Near Fine.
Signed limited edition of 525 copies only, signed by Geoffrey Keynes to the limitation leaf. An elegantly bound first edition of Keynes’ seminal and visual striking work on Blake’s illuminated books. A world authority on Blake, Keynes founded the William Blake Trust and was instrumental in establishing Blake as a central figure in the history of English art and literature. The coloured plates, taken from Blake’s ‘The Marriage of Heaven and Hell’, ‘Songs’, ‘The Book of Urizen’ amongst others, are printed in 6- and 8-colour offset on paper specially manufactured to match the tint of the paper used by Blake.
